Information Assurance or simply IA is something prevalent in every major corporation across the country, without it we would not be able to function the same way on an informational level. With these facts in mind what would you do as an IA specialist? Well, there’s a lot and it’d be impossible to cover it all in just one reading but the ideas are so expansive that IA work is changing depending on how the company changes.
What is information assurance?
Essentially anything you come across in your every day life can conceivably be a product of IA accreditation. Information given out to a mass public or a company wide spread is IA, this could be computer software, programming languages and data constructs so pretty much anything that can be interpreted as a visual representation both multimedia faceted or simple number is something that is construed as information technology.
This technology is the building blocks of what we’d call life functionality. Without this kind of knowledge none of the websites we’ve come to adore would have been invented as no one would have had the processes to do it right. Entire networking systems would be at a loss without any form of IA, without IA your informational systems would die and there would be no place for any essential “storage facility” of data. The world would be a less technologically advanced place without IA and that much is a fact.
All of this work is completed on a computer and all of this work is set up based on the data given, perhaps the company was in the red this month, you will make a chart of this data to make it easier for higher ups to know that. Once they have this information essentially “translated” into English they will fine-tune the steps they need to take to get out of the blue. This is pretty much a professional in information assurances would be doing.
Degrees
There is at least one big degree within the field that can be attained both on campus or online, one of the more popular parts of this particular one is the fact that all of your course work will be online as it is so you will be working diligently on a computer no matter your choice.
- Computer Science Degree- With this degree you will learn all you need to know about IA in which it will involve programming, troubleshooting, or even the physical repair of computers or other machines of technological use. Computer science is quickly becoming one of the most popular majors in all schools as it prepares students to meet a certain business standard not found in other majors. You will garner more of a sense of independence in this study.
- Master’s degree- You will use a systems management program designed to prepare you with the technical and business skills to advance in your career. You will learn how to lead and will be asked to make important decisions that could make or break an entire system database. Slightly more rigorous course work.
Financial Aid
If you complete special programs such as assistantships/internships working as a person in the field under the supervision of a professional you are more than likely going to get a full ride and paid for college tuition. But you must firstly apply for the program off-hand and show a sense of skills and determination not necessarily found in all forms of study so it requires patience, attentiveness, and attention to detail because if you miss anything an entire system has the chance to go up in smoke.

Average Salary of someone in information technology
With IA you can get anywhere between 53,000 to 97,000 dollars a year depending on what position you are in and how long you’ve been in that said position, but again this all is reflective of you and your degree as well as your tenure specializations. You can get to the point in your career that you decide you want to be a consultant in IA but that won’t be for some time in the future you have an entire career ahead of you before that.
Common IA careers
The only real huge job in this category would be that of the IA specialist themselves. They will be contacted when repairs are necessary for something that may have been broken from a technological standpoint and it is your job to fix the problems and to get it in working order once more.
IA specialist work is never done in a world define by science and technology. We are continuing to grow and as we continue to grow we actively need more and more IA specialized to maintain our technological output in society.
